Mist Flows
Walking behind a waterfall is an incredible experience. Walking behind one in Iceland is even better.
Black Sand
Black sand is something more common in Iceland, so much so that my host told me about a white sand beach!
Favorite Houses
Red houses in the Scandinavian style are my favorite, and within an hour of being in Iceland we cam across this one.
The Path to Vik
The southern stretch from Reykjavik to Vik is littered with waterfalls, Glufjurarbui being one of the most impressive.
Footsteps to Heaven
Vestmannaeyjar is well worth the visit, if nothing else for the black sand beach, huge breakwater, and good waves.
Golden Mist
I got to catch a little bit of the golden hour at 9:30 in the morning at this waterfall. Now that is my kind of place!
Wrecked Plane
This had been on my list of places to see for ages now. Little did I know that it would be about 8KM of hiking to get to it. But a wrecked plane on a black sand beach is worth the hike.
Solitude
This is what the hike to plane looked like. Pebbles and rocks everywhere, all on top of a sea of black sand and dunes.
Changing Tides
I'd seen a glacier before, when I was 16. But we were on a boat and a pretty good distance from it. Here I was able to walk up to it and not just see, but feel the impact our changing climate is having on earth.
